This Privacy Policy describes how Intelligence Simplified, LLC
(“we,” “us”) handles information in the Hamata Android app,
package name app.hamata.android.
Last updated: October 6, 2026.
Overview
Hamata is a Gmail client for quickly organizing a large inbox on your phone. After you sign in with Google, Hamata downloads message headers (and message bodies when you open a thread) to a local index on your device so you can group mail by sender, subject, or time and take bulk actions such as archive or trash. Processing for filter and bulk triage happens on your device. Hamata does not operate a mail server that stores your mail, tokens, or sender graphs. The phone talks to Google (Gmail API / Google sign-in) over HTTPS, not to an Intelligence Simplified backend for mail content.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use advertising or ad tracking in the app.
Google user data accessed
With your consent, Hamata accesses the Google user data listed below.
- Google account (Sign in with Google). With your consent, Hamata uses Google Identity services to obtain an access token and your account email so it can call the Gmail API on your behalf. Tokens and the signed-in email are stored in encrypted storage on your device. We do not run a Hamata account system separate from Google.
-
Gmail message headers and bodies.
With Gmail permission (scope
gmail.modifyplus basic OpenID email/profile scopes), Hamata reads metadata such as From, Subject, Date, labels, and size to build the on-device index, and may fetch message bodies when you open a thread. That mail data is stored and processed locally for triage. Bulk archive, trash, and mark-read/unread send label changes to Google so they apply in Gmail. - Optional contacts (if enabled in your build). If you grant contacts permission, Hamata may read on-device contacts only to help match display names or avatars in the UI. Contact data is not uploaded to an Intelligence Simplified server.
Sharing, transfer, and disclosure of Google user data
Hamata does not sell Google user data.
Hamata does not share, transfer, or disclose Google user data to third parties, advertisers, analytics vendors, or any Intelligence Simplified server or backend for mail content.
Google user data (messages, tokens, and account email) is processed on your device. It is sent only to Google’s Gmail API and Google sign-in endpoints as needed to perform the actions you request (read, archive, trash, and mark read/unread).
Except for those Google API calls under your OAuth grant, we do not disclose Google user data to anyone else.
We do not use Google user data to develop, improve, or train generalized AI/ML models.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not use third-party advertising networks or ad trackers in the app.
- We do not operate a Hamata mail backend that receives or stores your messages.
- We do not permanently delete Gmail messages from Google’s servers via a “purge” scope in current dogfood builds (trash moves mail to Gmail Trash).
Google’s role
Google’s handling of your Google Account and Gmail is governed by Google’s own terms and privacy policies. Hamata’s use of Gmail APIs is subject to Google’s Limited Use requirements for restricted scopes. Signing in with Google is not creating an account with Intelligence Simplified.
Retention and deletion
- Use Disconnect in Hamata to remove the Google session from the app and wipe Hamata’s local header/body index on that device. See Disconnect & delete local data.
- Uninstalling Hamata also removes the app’s local storage on that device.
- Disconnecting or uninstalling does not delete your Gmail mailbox at Google. Manage or delete mail in Gmail if that is what you want.
- You can revoke Hamata’s access to your Google Account in your Google Account security settings at any time.
Children
Hamata is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
